Sailing Red Seas
We are Iain and Brioni, a Scottish couple who have been living onboard our 20-year-old Leopard 47 sailing catamaran since 2020. We’ve sailed over 10,000nm in the Caribbean, Central America and the South Pacific.
After four days of glassy conditions motoring through the Doldrums, the port engine on Sailing Red Seas SV Indioko, a Leopard 47 catamaran, decided to spit out all of its coolant and oil and call it quits.
After a slow sail to Hiva Oa, French Polynesia, Iain and Briony were told the engine was dead but might be able to be rebuilt in Tahiti. The cost of a rebuild in one of the most remote countries in the world was exorbitant, and they accepted it was time to install a new engine.
Follow along with Iain and Briony’s journey as they repower Indioko with two NANNI N4.50s in Tahiti!
